Story

Thirty was a big number. She was looking forward to and dreading the day in equal measure. Shed never imagined shed have to face it but now that it was staring her in the face, she knew she couldnt escape it. Her sisters had insisted on a big party to celebrate this milestone but her heart wanted different. She followed it to the outskirts of the city, where the concrete turned to cobblestone and then packed earth, and the grass grew wild and free. Stopping by the stream, she lay down on the grass and let her body soak in the warmth of the winter sun. She would exit her 20s by herself, her lips stained with the sweet juice of berries and nostalgia. This was the slice of heaven that was all her own, a precious memory that she would carry with her, long after the day had ended.
